lightning pics at the farm

i am going to post a series of lightning pics i took this past weekend at sarah's grandpa's farm in central iowa. storms were forecast all night, and after a few evening storms went south of town, the low level jet did it's magic and formed storms within 10 or so miles south of me. the storms were basically stationary and kept redeveloping. in fact there were areas south of me that received 5-6 inches of rain! i did get several good pics, but unfortunately my best pics, which had 4-5 good sharp bolts of lightning ended up blurry! i was trying to take pics while sitting in the car without a tripod. then i got a tripod, but still it's nearly impossible to stay completely still when leaving the shutter open. then i moved the tripod and camera to the top of the car when it quit raining, only to have the camera not be in focus. i didn't notice til after about 5 great pics that turned out a blur, and when i did refocus the camera the best lightning was done and there were low clouds blocking the lightning as well. on some of the pics you can see small green spots or lines. these are some of the hundreds of lightning bugs that were flying all over(along with nasty, huge june bugs) i was pretty mad despite the shots i did get. oh well i guess i am still learning my new camera....
