a nice little storm blew through town early this morning around 1 am. it was severe warned for winds of 60 mph and there was a gust of 63 mph at the airport. here at the house, there were winds of probably around 50 mph and about 3/4" of rain. i went out to the end of nebraska avenue where i get a nice clear view to the north and northeast of town. the lightning with this storm was mainly cloud to cloud, but it lit up the underside of the nice shelf cloud that was moving with the storm. finally i got a couple of good cg strikes right before the rain and wind really hit. this time of year is normally quiet for severe weather and storms if they occur are normally overnight, so hopefully there'll be more lightning opportunities coming.
